Mrs. Julie Vinci

Welcome to Second Grade!

I’m Mrs. Vinci, and I’m excited to make this a year filled with learning, growing, and lots of fun.

Second grade is an exciting year as students become more independent, confident, and curious learners. We will work together to build strong academic skills while also learning how to be responsible, kind, and supportive classmates.

What to Expect in Second Grade

Reading & Writing
Students will become stronger, more confident readers as we work on reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and understanding different types of texts. In writing, students will learn to develop their ideas, write complete and detailed responses, and become more comfortable expressing themselves through writing.

Math
Students will build a strong foundation in addition, subtraction, place value, measurement, geometry, and problem-solving. We will use hands-on activities, math conversations, games, and practice to help students understand not just how to solve a problem, but why it works.

Science & Social Studies
Through hands-on activities, discussions, projects, and exploration, students will learn about the world around them. We will explore topics in science, communities, geography, history, and more.

Growing as Learners
Second grade is about much more than academics. Students will practice working independently, collaborating with others, solving problems, managing their materials, and taking pride in their work. Mistakes are welcomed because they help us learn and grow!

Our Classroom

Our classroom is a place where every child is encouraged to ask questions, try new things, and be themselves. We celebrate effort, progress, kindness, and perseverance. My goal is for every student to feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school each day.
