• Guided reading is an instructional approach that involves a teacher working with a small group of students who demonstrate similar reading behaviors and can all read similar levels of texts. The text is easy enough for students to read with teacher support.

    Students are assessed using the Teachers College Benchmark Assessments. 

    Benchmark Assessments are running records to gauge a child's accuracy, fluency, and comprehension during reading. This occurs four times per year and is used when making decisions regarding reading services for students as well as determining appropriate reading levels.
